Ok then, if they manage to get Streit under contract I wonder if one of Coburn, Meszaros, or Grossman could be moved

As always, as long as the numbers are OK this is a good deal.
Kimmo-Coburn Streit-Schenn Mez-Grossmann
Can def them moving Mez for Gus for another FA

I like the move alot, speculation is a 3 yr. deal at 5.5 or 4 yrs. at 4-5 mil. either way it will be a big help to the PP and the guy is very solid in his own end. I hear a lot of idiots whining on facebook about Streit being 35, think he has a lot left in him and honestly right now I would love to see Coburn and Mez out of the picture, have my doubts that Grossman can return to the player he was. I would be perfectly happy with Kimmo,Schenn,Streit,Gus, Laurrisen, and trade for an impact D man like Yandle.

I am hoping that Streit turned down the Isles offer because he just didn't want to play there. It was 3 yr at $15 mill and maybe we can get him for under $5 mill - more like $4.5 mill / year. Maybe a 4 year - $18 mill

I agree....reading a lot of hate about this move. I don't get it. Puck movement out of the D zone was horrendous last season, esp after Kimmo, Coburn & Mez went down. This guy has played in every game the last 3 years. He's steady & will get you about 50 points.
Look at what Gonchar just got. 2 years $11 million & he's 39. It's the going rate regardless of his age

agree with Grossman, Oliver pretty much made the guy expendable. I like the contract they gave Streit, of course more fans will whine and complain about the money but Kimo is off the books next season and they need a good vet back there. Dallas with their terrible overpayment of Gonchar set the bar of what D men will get this summer

Streit signs a 4 year $22 million dollar deal. You must have insider info - good call. I am fine with this deal. Kimmo will be gone after this year unless he decides to come back. I would believe Streit can play for at least a good 3-4 years. eenie meenie miney moe, one of Grossman, Coburn, or Mez will have to go...

One thing I find interesting is that even though Streit is 35 yrs old, he's only been in the league seven years according to ESPN. He wasn't drafted until his mid twenties. Very interesting. He won't have the wear and tear on him that most mid thirties players would have by now. He's only been to the postseason 3 times and this year was the first time since 08 and he only went deep in the playoffs once. Knowing that, I don't mind giving him the contract he got. I think he could do 4 more years and 22 mil is reasonable. If he were your typical 35 yr old Dman with massive wear and tear on him, I would be upset he got a contract like this. We obviously need help at the blueline. Plus if Bryz and Briere get bought out, another plus. If one Dman has to go, let it be Mezaros, he's never healthy and overpaid.

Actually my first reaction to this was great, Homer is going to overpay another old head who will have one or two good years and then drop off the face of the earth. I was thinking this is Pronger redux. After some research, I don't mind the deal he got and I know he can play. Love to see what him and Kimmo can do on the PP together.

I agree with all your assessments. I like Grossmann but he just can't catch a break. The money is what it is for an offensive D....you gotta pay to play.
