I wonder how that will turn out....he was a great player. They say he's improved on his patience (a must for a coach with young players)

I wonder too. You never really hear about goalies becoming good head coaches & GM's etc

Wouldn't surprise me if Vigneault becomes coach of the Rangers (though I guess it would depend if Messier wants the job or not). He's kind of like Torts - minus the attitude lol... Some rumors about perhaps former Flyers coach John Stevens being the next Canucks coach.

Meh, whatever to the Rangers. Until Sather is replaced it'll be the same ol' same ol' with them.
I guess if Stevens becomes head coach of the Nucks you can expect Carter & Richards to revolt against Sutter

Doesn't matter who the GM/coach is when it's likely Kevin Lowe that 'pulls the strings' behind the scenes.

there was a rumor floating around that the Flyers were trying to trade for the rights to Bernier. how does everyone feel about that? I have a lot of faith in Mason but wouldn't mind another young goalie

I have a lot of faith in Mason but wouldn't mind another young goalie I saw that rumor too. Read for Bernier straight up? I'd do it. Buy out Bryz & Briere, frees up $12.1 million in cap space, sign Bernier to a 3 year, $3.5 per deal.....go after D via trade or UFA.

I wouldn't give up anybody substantial for a still unproven Bernier. Not sure what kind of long-term success he'll have in the league (his small size works against him as a goalie).

I posted this on the Mason - So far so good thread, this is from Bob McKenzie's twitter. I would absolutely love to see Homer attempt to get Bernier. Go into next season with Bernier and Mason and have two young goalies to compete against each other.

Guess Bylsma is staying put
Dan Bylsma will continue on as coach of the Penguins after signing a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season. General manager Ray Shero announced the deal Wednesday morning, less than a week after the Eastern Conference's top seed was swept in the conference finals. Assistant coaches Tony Granato and Todd Reirden will also be retained. Goaltending coach Gilles Meloche will move into an advisory role with the club next season. Bylsma is 201-92-25 in four-plus seasons with Pittsburgh and helped the franchise win its third Stanley Cup in 2009. The Penguins went 36-12-0 and won the Atlantic Division title this season. Shero says he believes Bylsma is the coach to work with stars Sidney and Evgeni Malkin as the team moves forward. Pittsburgh was dispatched by the Boston Bruins in four games in the just-completed East finals.
