OK, now that the Hawks are Champs again, it's time to starting getting this team put together.
1) We need to buy out Bryz. There is no updside to having this guy on the team right now. Do it now and be done with it. Perhaps we can sign Emery to split time with Mason and see who shines. Hell, if Luongo is bought out, I would take a look at him.
2) I would look to put a package together to see if they can add another 1st round pick within the top ten since this is a deep draft. I would start with Matt Read and Coburn to see if that will entice anyone. Read is going to command some money after this season and we can certainly afford to shed additional money off the cap by getting rid of Coburn. Then hopefully, you can draft two defensive prospects to start building the defense.
3) Get Giroux under a long term contract.
4) Allow the young defensemen we have to play and get experience to see what we got.
Thoughts?

very much agree on #4 Gus deserves to be on the club and Oliver IMO has earned a spot, now wll management be patient and allow them both to be on the opening night lineup probably not.
Giroux will be signed this summer, Homer will pretty much give him whatever his agent wants, he'll get Malkin money.
moving one or both of Mez and Coburn is a must.
one guy I hope they target is Victor Stallberg, would be a great addition. if Bobby Ryan isn't an option then Ryder would be my second choice. moving Couttrier for a stud D man or high pick should be explored too

Well, #1 option is completed.
Calgary and Columbus each have 3 first round picks so I would certainly explore the possibility of getting another 1st round selection.
I would prefer to keep Cooter on this team, unless the Preds are willing to trade Weber for him.
